CBE SECOND CHANCE
CBE SECOND CHANCE PROJECT
Background
The project aims to achieve measurable improvements in access, participation, and learning outcomes for children, particularly out-of-school children and those who have dropped out. It targets the enrolment of 1,000 out-of-school children into the education system, ensuring they are given the opportunity to learn and thrive.
In terms of retention and progression, the project seeks to maintain an attendance rate of at least 80%, achieve a 90% completion rate among enrolled learners, and ensure that 95% successfully transition to the next level of education.
Beyond access and retention, the project places strong emphasis on foundational learning.
It aims to improve literacy by enabling learners to read at least 25 correct words per minute and to read fluently with comprehension. In numeracy, the project targets the ability of learners to solve at least 15 single-digit addition problems per minute, while also developing their capacity to effectively apply number operations in practical contexts.
